Aix-les-bains

Urban town, spa town

Aix-les-Bains is now the third-ranking spa town in France. Two spa centres, the Thermes Chevalley and the Thermes de Marlioz propose a dual spa focus (ENT and rheumatology).

The Thermes Chevalley spa is fitted with state-of-the-art equipment and, apart from thermal water, comprises 3 balneotherapy centres for freshwater treatments: Adelphia, Domaine de Marlioz, Villa Marlioz. The town is home to a wide range of other facilities, spas and institutions that are dedicated to well-being, relaxation and fitness.

A rich history

As a result of its longstanding history with water and its prestigious spas patronized by European aristocracy during the 19th century, Aix-les-Bains has inherited impressive resort-style architecture. Palaces, luxurious hotels and villas, including a few whose façades can still be admired today: the neo-classical Grand-Hôtel, the Roche du Roi Castle, listed as a historic monument, the neo-Louis XIII-style Bernascon Residence, the Mirabeau, the Royal, the Excelsior, the Splendide, etc.

Nautical resort

Endorsed as a France Station Nautique (French Nautical Resort), Aix-les-Bains offers a wide range of water sports: sailing and windsurfing, catamaran, traditional boating, cruises, canoeing-kayaking, rowing, water skiing, wakeboarding and kite-surfing, diving and swimming, in perfect safety.

Focus on Musilac

Musilac, the most well-known pop-rock festival in the Rhône-Alpes region, takes place every year in July, in Aix-les-Bains. Around forty singers and bands perform on open-air stages, on the shore of the largest natural lake in France.

It’s a tale of a lake, a mountain and thousands of people getting together. A success story created by amazing performers, from internationally-acclaimed stars to up-and-coming talents, from the greatest French singers to world-renowned legends of rock who, in their own ways, turned the esplanade of the lake into a magical machine that makes dreams come true. Muse, The Cure, Indochine, Peter Gabriel, Mika, M, Noir Desir, ZZ Top…
