Aix les bains

Aix-les-Bains

Aix-les-Bains combines a laid-back lifestyle with bustling vitality, fine-dining and culture, not to mention well-being and revitalisation, all in stunning natural surroundings.

Urban spa town

Today, Aix-les-Bains is the fourth-largest spa town in France. Two spa centres - Les Thermes Chevalley and Les Thermes de Marlioz - offer two types of spa therapy (ENT and rheumatology).

The Thermes Chevalley spa has modern, comfortable facilities and three balneotherapy centres - Adelphia, Domaine de Marlioz and Villa Marlioz - offering water treatments. There is a wide range of spas and institutions dedicated to well-being and relaxation for a truly relaxing break.

Because of the benefits of its thermal spring water, Aix-les-Bains was for a long time the key destination for European aristocracy, with Queen Victoria, Queen Hortense and Empress Eugenie all having stayed there. The presence of such distinguished figures enabled the town to establish an array of palaces, prestigious hotels and villas with façades that can still be admired today, including the neo-classical Grand Hotel, the Château de la Roche du Roi, listed as a historic monument, the Mirabeau, the Royal, the Excelsior, the Splendide, and more.

Nautical resort

Aix les bains

Endorsed as a France Station Nautique (French Nautical Resort), Aix-les-Bains offers a wide range of water sports: sailing and windsurfing, catamaran, traditional boating, cruises, canoeing-kayaking, rowing, water skiing, wakeboarding and kite-surfing, diving and swimming, in perfect safety.
