Chambéry

Former capital of the Dukes of Savoie, Chambéry is ideally located at the gateway to two regional nature parks, the Bauges and the Chartreuse, just a stone’s throw from Bourget Lake and close to the major winter sports resorts.

This city of art and history, historical capital of Savoie and of the kingdom of Piedmont-Sardinia, features an impressive heritage that bears witness to its prestigious past and gives it an aura of Italy.

Highly-appealing, thanks to its multiple offers, Chambéry is a university city that also boasts the Savoie Technolac high-tech cluster which focuses on innovation and the environment.

The city’s vitality is reflected through its intense cultural life. A range of festivals and events punctuate the cultural season: the Festival du Premier roman (First Novel Festival), Festival de la Bande Dessinée (Comic Book Festival), Festival de Jazz, etc. as well as Les Nuits de la Roulotte (Romani Music Festival), Cité d'Eté (Summertime Festival) and Lafi Bala (Burkina Faso music and culture Festival), to name but a few...

Its recently-expanded pedestrian district, with its new Halles commercial centre comprising the indoor market and top-name retailers, is perfect for a stroll, for discovering the area and for shopping.
